Essentially, I am a designer of images. The bulk of my work deals with costuming, but recently has extended into transforming spaces through installation and scenic decorating.
The reason I design stems from my deeply rooted instinct to discover people. I look for the connections between objects and the emotions they carry. With that, I also question how these visuals emote across time, space, and cultures. My theory is that we dress for something- no matter what. It is my job to dissect those intentions and manifest them by dressing a body or space that presents itself clearly and vividly.
I graduated from Florida State University, where I received my Bachelors of Arts degree in Theater. In my final semesters at Florida State I completed and successfully defended an honors thesis - A project that culminated my undergraduate education as a designer. I studied with the Retail Merchandising and Product Development department at Florida State as well, developing my ability to identify fibers, source materials, build store layouts, create marketing plans, and plan finances.
I have worked on productions at Writers Theatre, Lookingglass, The House Theatre of Chicago, Haymarket Opera, numerous summer stock companies, private projects, and independent films to gain a diverse fabrication background. I am based in Brooklyn, NY.
